Support Worker

The opportunity: 

We are looking to recruit a Support Worker to work in our Abbeyfield Wales retirement house in the small market town of Usk in rural Monmouthshire.  

The house accommodates people with early onset dementia, anxiety and depression which affects their cognitive abilities to live without support.   

This role provides an opportunity to support tenants and see them thrive, which is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that your efforts are making a positive impact on someone's life can bring a sense of fulfilment and purpose to your work. 

With proven experience in a supported housing or housing management setting, particularly with vulnerable people, you will support our tenants to live more independently, helping them to find and choose their support needs so that they can actively contribute to the running of their own home. 

What we need from you: 

 

  • Ability to provide emotional and practical support to tenants – this role does not require any personal care.  

  • Encourage and support tenants to live as independently as possible, ensuring they have a fulfilled social and personal life.  

  • Experience of working with vulnerable groups, within social care or support services.  

 

 

  • Good communication skills – our tenants love to get to know the people who work withing their home, so we are looking for someone who loves to chat and listen.  

  • Ability to work as part of a team – your will work closely with the house manager to ensure the house runs smoothly, so we are looking for someone who likes to share ideas and skills with their team.  

  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.
